No Compromise

Edmund Spencer’s allegory, The Faerie Queen, tells of a Knight who abandons his duty to his lady and goes after a beautiful young woman. Several times the Knight is warned that the lady is not who he thinks she is, but each time her beauty and charm overcome him. When he finally realizes his danger, it is too late and she turns him into a tree.

Sin promises, but never pays. It disguises itself as something beautiful and attractive and rewarding, but in the end provides only regret. Why do we flirt with it? What should we do now? We will talk about it in church this weekend!
